This document outlines the hardware and software requirements for deploying Pearson Inform locally, including: 1. Requiring two servers - a dedicated web/application server and a database server, with recommended server hardware specifications. 2. All required software must be installed, including Java 1.6.07, Apache 2.0.59, Tomcat 5.5, and supported operating systems of Windows 2003/2000 Server or Linux Red Hat ES4 or newer. 3. The database requirements support either Microsoft SQL 2005 or Oracle 9i, and the school district must provide an SSL certificate from an approved CA and remote access to the servers.

Hardware and Software Requirements
2 servers required Pearson Inform requires two servers for deployment:
• A dedicated web/application server
• A database server
• >2 GHz Dual Xeon Processors
• Hardware RAID controller
• Dual 36 GB hard-drives in a RAID 1 configuration (OS)
Recommended • 3 or more >36 GB hard-drives in a RAID 5 configuration (data store & apps)

Web Server SSL Component Requirements:
• Method of providing server authentication certificate from a Pearson
approved CA Authority (contact Pearson for list of approved signers).
Database Requirements (requires only one)
• Microsoft SQL 2005
• Oracle 9i
Additional

• an SSL signed certificate (CA must be from Pearson approved list)
